Update: September 17, 2004 By the grace of God, the first annual magazine is almost here. Volunteers, pat yourself on the back! As soon as we get a laser printer to crank out the needed copies we'll start distribute them! We kicked off the Annual Magazine drive by holding our first meeting on September 28. Saya Latt Yishey, Dicky Choo, John Hla-Oung, Peter Lau, Johnson Paw, Peter Paw, David Sein-Lwin and Richard Khoo were in attendance. Ma Chaw and Zaw Win Htut have graciously agreed to take on the challenging task of designing the Annual Magazine cover!!!   The target date for publication is last week of March, 2004. Saya reminded us to tap into the talents of the like of Zaw Win Htut and Ma Chaw. Saya also mentioned the availability of artists and cartoonists such as Ko Aung Win and Ko Tin Htut. Saya suggested using photos of our young dancers on the cover and everyone concurred. Date of photo shoot will be announced soon. We will seek Shirley Lau's help on makeup and costume. We are also seeking a volunteer to drive the young models to the location. Johnson Paw will consult ABCW in regards to potential magazine sponsor(s) issue. Attendees suggested collecting a donation amount of $3 from each member who wishes to have a copy. The magazine will be printed in 11x17 and then folded in half. It will be stapled in the middle. Unless we can find a commercial printer with an affordable price tag, we will use in-house resources. Peter Paw suggested using landmarks such as cable car, G G bridge and Palace of Fine Art as backdrop. Peter Lau recommended training interested volunteers in Microsoft Publishing 2000 and Adobe Photoshop. Dicky Choo found a web site http://www.webshot.com where we can buy professional pictures. The committee agreed to republish some of the articles from Newsletters. David S-L offered a cost saving idea. We will email future Newsletter to member who signs up for electronic version. John Hla-Oung will edit and proof read the articles. He will also contribute his own writing. Everyone who wishes to offer his or her skill please step up to the plate.
